Cafe Italia was a finalist at the UK Italian Awards!
In October 2023, we became finalists at the Italian awards in four categories, being nominated for Best Pasta Chef for our traditional potato pasta, Best Chef of the Year, Best Deli/Cafe, and Best Restaurant in the North West!
What is Pasta E Patate?
Pasta e Patate is a Southern Italian pasta dish that dates back to the 16th century. Its name translates to 'pasta and potatoes,' which is the dish's main ingredient. It became popular as a hearty food that was easy to cook and offered an accessible and cheap alternative.
Pasta e Patate has since developed into a nostalgic and traditional dish representing Southern Italy's history. It was an honour to reach the final with our homemade version of the potato pasta that Vito had perfected in his hometown of Naples; it was great to bring our heritage with us and see it recognised.
We're incredibly grateful to our customers for voting for us in the UK Italian Awards; we're proud of ourselves and the hard work of the team. Vito personally wants to thank his family for supporting him, and commented, "they're making of their success."
